There is much to do as summer creeps up on us. First things first: planning and fundraising. If you would like to donate to my campaign or volunteer to help me win this November please contact me. Every bit of help is very much appreciated and makes a big difference!

One Deadline Down, No Primary!
The deadline for declaring candidacy to run for the district seats in West Jordan has now passed and I officially have only one challenger, so that means there will be no primary election in District 4 this year. That said, full speed ahead!

And So It Begins!
I took a quick trip down to City Hall and declared my candidacy to retain the office that I currently hold as West Jordan District 4 City Councilmember. On April 8, 2015 I took my oath of office and began this journey representing the good folks of District 4 after having been selected by the City Council to fulfill the remainder of Justin Stoker's term which ends in January. I would love to earn your vote and be priviledged to serve a full term after this Council appointment is completed. Please take this journey with me!

Ballots Arriving
Ballots have been mailed out to registered voters and should be arriving. Some voters who have received their ballots have been asking me whether I am affiliated with the Republican or Democrat party. Although in West Jordan city office is not partisan, knowing party affiliation can give insight into how a candidate sees the world and thinks.
I am a conservative Republican. I am currently a state delegate and county delegate for the Utah Republican Party.
Remember when voting you MUST sign your own ballot. Your spouse cannot sign for you or your ballot will be void.
Sophie Rice has been on the West Jordan City Council since April of 2015. She was appointed to the Council by a 4 vs. 2 vote after the Council whittled the race from 5 applicants to 2: Councilmember Rice and her current opponent Alan Anderson.
These Councilmembers voted to seat Councilmember Rice:
Judy Hanson
Chris McConnehey
Ben Southworth
Chad Nichols
These Councilmembers voted against the motion to seat Rice in a vote for Alan Anderson:
Jeff Haaga
Kim Rolfe

Fixes, not Excuses
My opponent has been accusing me of causing contention in West Jordan. I believe that mudslinging sullies both parties and, *ahem* causes contention. While true that West Jordan has been in the news a lot lately, I prefer fixing problems over concealing them, and I couldn't have possibly caused problems that preceded my time.
